How do I block an unwanted sender in cPanel?

2 min read

Blocking unwanted senders in cPanel is an effective way to prevent unwanted e-mails from specific senders. You can easily block emails from certain senders via cPanel's email settings. Follow the steps below to block a sender:

Step 1: Log in to your cPanel

  • Go to the login page of your cPanel (for example: yourwebsite.nl/cpanel).
  • Enter your username and password and click Login.

Step 2: Go to the email section

  • Scroll down to the area Email in your cPanel dashboard.
  • Click Mail Filter or Global Email Filters (depending on your version of cPanel).

Step 3: Create a new filter

  • Click Create a new filter to create a new line that blocks messages from a specific sender.
  • Please give the filter a name, for example: "Block Unwanted Sender" .

Step 4: Set the filter criteria

  • Choose on Filter lines the option From in the list of available criteria.
  • Enter the email address of the sender you want to block. For example: [email protected].
  • If you want to block multiple senders, add their email addresses, separated by a comma.

Step 5: Choose the filter action

  • With Action choose Delete message or Move to Spam.
  • If you choose to delete the message, the email will be completely ignored. If you choose "Move to Spam," the email will be placed in the junk folder so you can check it later.

Step 6: Save the filter

  • Click Save to add the filter.
  • The filter will now be active and will block or move emails from the specified sender to the junk folder.

Step 7: Regularly check your junk

  • Occasionally check the junk folder to make sure that there are no legitimate emails in it.
  • If a legitimate e-mail is falsely marked, you can add the sender to your Whitelist to prevent this in the future.

Step 8: Remove the filter (optional)

  • If you want to remove the blockage of a sender, you can remove the filter by Mail Filter manage your created rules and remove or edit the filter.

By following these steps, you can easily block unwanted senders in cPanel and keep your inbox clean of spam.
