When you are working on your website and want to make sure that it can recover in its original state, or just to be safe: making a backup is always wise. You can easily back up via cPanel.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1. Log in to cPanel.
Step 2. Under the 'Files' category, click 'Backup Wizard'.
Step 3. Click 'Backup'. Then choose the kind of backup you want to make back. You have the following choices:
- Full Backup. This allows you to make a full backup of your cPanel account. You cannot use this backup to recover via cPanel, but to transfer your cPanel account to another server.
- Base Directory. This allows you to create a backup of the basic directory. Here are all the files from your hosting package, including the files from your website.
- MySQL Databases. This allows you to back up all databases and their contents.
- Forwarders for email & Filters. This allows you to back up all email forwarders and filters.
Step 4. After choosing an option, you can download the corresponding file to your computer. With this file, you can restore the backup made, so save it properly.
